The heavy bag that you carried held the single most important thing in your life; the thing that brought you the most joy; the thing that made you who you were…a champion. You smirked as you set it into your car in the seat beside you as you started it up. 'Now time for some tunes.' You thought happily. There was a competition tonight…for rookies…of course you would be there. And not only was this going to be another trophy to add to your collection, but there would be sponsors there tonight. Oh what a joy it would be to be signed. Now to find the artist to get you pumped the most.

"Let's see…" you muttered, "Q…q…q…ah Queen."

You hit play and began jamming to 'Don't Stop Me Now' on your way down the road to your stage. You patted the bag next to you as you loudly sang along.

------------ --------------- ---------------

Pulling into the lot you had to smile as the blinding neon lights flashed on and off in their distinctive pattern. You smiled, this is where you first learned to play. You shut your car off and grabbed your bag, no longer shocked by the way its weight tugged on your arm. You shut the door to your car as you stepped out and then locked it. You walked towards the door smirking, you were going to win big tonight. You stepped through the door and took in the familiar sounds of clattering wood on wood and squeaking shoes on a polished floor. You walked over to a counter and asked for your shoe size.

After receiving the shoes you walked over to your designated lane, lane number 10, your lucky lane. There was no way you were losing tonight. You set your bag down and unzipped it, and pulled out your weapon the instrument of your opponents defeat. You pulled out the custom painted 8.5 inch (21.6 centimeter) ten pound sphere with those three distinctive holes. You smiled and examined the ball before replacing it. Yes you were a bowler…and you were going to go pro…tonight.

You sat down and took a breath in order to clear your mind. You always did this, to you, this so called pass time was as much of an art to you as it was a sport. You were just about at your centered point when this obnoxious voice broke through your thoughts.

"Yo, dudette, why don't you dump the loser you must be here with and get with a Hero!"

You opened your eyes and turned to glower at the person standing beside you, "And who are you?" you asked him.

"I'm Alfred F. Jones, the Hero and the next champion of the competition." He said with a cocky voice giving you a somewhat dazzling grin and a thumbs up.

You scoffed and rolled your eyes, "You really think so?" you asked him with a smirk, he didn't realize that you were the one he would be competing against.

"I know so." He said to you, "So why don't you give me a kiss for luck and come sit on my side."

You rolled your eyes again and laughed, he was kind of cute, "Alright, I'll tell you what…you win…I'll give you a nice sexy kiss." You said, "Deal?" you held out your hand.

"Deal." He said and shook on it.

He went back over to his lane and began prepping himself. You smirked as the announcer began calling out the five competitors of the night.

"In lane nine, Alfred F. Jones!" he called out to the excited crowd as they cheered on your competitor, "A heroic young underdog looking to take down the current champion here at Tianna Lanes…" The building of suspense was killing the crowd but they exploded when he called out, "(FIRST NAME) (LAST NAME)!"

You raised your arms in triumph as they cheered you on. You turned and smirked at your shocked competitor.

"Tell you what," you said, "If you come in second, I'll kiss your cheek." You laughed as the games began.

----------- ------------ --------------

It was down to two, you and the new face, Alfred, you were neck and neck, it all came down to this. You rolled first. You lifted your black ball painted with a (color) dragon and kissed it as you went forward and tossed it with a clean hook. It began to roll down the shining, polished lane. Then it started to go to the side and you cringed, there was no way that you could get a gutter ball…not tonight…not when you were so close. Luckily it managed to hit the pins and clatter eight of them down. There was a gasp from the crowd.

"Shit!" you cursed under your breath.

It was the two pins that you never wanted to see still standing. The Dreaded Seven-Ten Split. You took a deep breath and tried to compose yourself. Picking this up has only been done maybe three times in the history of pro-bowling…ever! But you had to do it tonight. Your ball rolled down the automatic dispenser and you walked over and picked it up. 'Come on (Last Name) you can do this!' you thought confidently as you chose your angle and stepped forward and tossed the ball in another perfect hook.

The ball rolled right down your chosen path and hit the pin you chose. The pin began its bounce and rolled towards the other and your eyes widened with baited breath as it stopped just short of touching the other pin. There was a collective groan from the crowd and you felt like you could cry. Your ball came back out and you took hold of your ball and brought it back over to your bag, you were so close to your perfect game. You couldn't pick up that Seven-Ten Split. You sighed and decided to watch your quite zealous opponent. All you had to do was hope that he only knocked eight pins over in total…then you would win.

He did his rather boisterous approach and tossed the ball in a hook as perfect as your own. It rolled right down the center of the lane. 'No!' you thought, 'He's gonna strike it!' You closed your eyes and listened to the sound of the pins clattering to the wood below. There was a loud gasp from the crowd.

"No way!" you said as you opened your eyes.

The Dreaded Seven-Ten Split. He had one too. You were going to tie…unless he picked it up…but it wasn't possible, you were the best in this alley and you had no idea who this dude even was. He was about as distraught as you had been, but he didn't let it stop him from doing the same approach to the lane and tossing his ball in the perfect hook. You couldn't take your eyes off of it. It rolled down the long lane and hit it's destined pin.

"OH MY GOD! HE DID IT!" the announcers yelled, "THE UNDERDOG ALFRED F. JONES PICKED UP THE SEVEN-TEN SPLIT! HE'S BEATEN (FIRST NAME) (LAST NAME)! JONES WINS! JONES WINS! JONES WINS!"

Your heart broke at that moment, you had lost the most important competition in your life. He turned to look at you with a smirk on his face, the look fell when he saw the tears in your eyes, this was all you had ever wanted, but you couldn't cry over it. You blinked the tears away and swallowed your pride, you walked over to him and held your hand out.

"Good game, Jones." You said.

"Call me Alfred." He said, "You did awesome, (Name)."

He flashed you a sincere grin and you felt a slight blush on your face. Before he could bring up your bet a man in a suit approached the both of you. He pulled a business card from his wallet.

"Hello Mr. Jones, Miss (Last Name), I'm Joseph Baker head of the United States Bowling League." He said in a professional voice.

You were star struck, "I know who you are." You said with a bright smile.

"You're awesome man." Alfred said.

"Why thank you both, look I'm here to offer Alfred a sponsorship and place on my team." He said.

Alfred took the card and smiled widely, "I'd be honored sir." He said.

"We're lucky to have you." He said.

"Congratulations Alfred." You said with a soft smile, still slightly heart broken.

"And congratulations to you as well Miss (Last Name) I'm actually offering you a place as well." He said holding a business card out to you as well.

Your heart skipped a few dozen beats and you smiled wider than you ever had and took the card, "I…I don't know what to say other than I'd love to, sir." You said.

The businessman smiled kindly and said, "It's an honor to have two amazing bowlers such as yourselves on my team. I'll see you tomorrow at my office to sign the contracts."

You both nodded and shook his hand before he walked off.

"Looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of each other." The blond said.

You smiled at him and said, "Looks like it." You gave him a saucy smirk, "Aren't you forgetting something Al?" you asked him.

"Don't think so." He said confused.

"Didn't I say if you won I'd give you a big…sexy…kiss~?" you asked in a flirty voice.

His eyes widened behind his glasses, some considered you weird…but you loved a man in glasses. He didn't have the chance to respond before you grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him into a hot lip-lock. He was shocked and frozen for a moment. When he kissed back you wrapped your arms around his neck and he wrapped his around your waist and deepened it a bit. And the world seemed to disappear. When you two finally parted you heard the cheers of the crowd. You won in more ways than just getting a sponsor that night. You found your true love.

Also...who saw the bowling thing coming? :giggle:
